mini-Roadtrip 2011 | Day 3: Niagara Falls!!!

We crossed the border and headed into Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Everyone always says the Canada side is nicer and after crossing back into the U.S. side the next day, I'd say they weren't lying.

Unfortunately, there was still too much ice in the water so the Maid of the Mist boats were not running. It was a disappointment, but in the end it was probably for the best. We paid to go down on the observation deck right by Horseshoe (Canadian) Falls, and it was damn cold down there! Almost painfully windy and wet. Our cheap garbage bag ponchos did not help so much. But the falls are beautiful regardless.

U.S. falls. Much sunnier the next day

Niagara Falls, ON, was a tourist trap in itself, but in a fun cheesy way.  We took full advantage of being tourists and got some fun pass that got us admission to the ferris wheel, alien mini-golf, some ghost blaster black-light laser game, a horrible motion simulator ride, a celebrity wax museum, as well as tokens for the Midway.  It was great!  We got a nice view of the falls at night and won a few new friendsies at the Midway.  I was really hoping 5 would win me a giant stuffed pegasus like I've always wanted since childhood, but unless we spent all of our life savings on tokens (to win tickets), it was not going to happen.  Also, giant stuffed pegasuses were not available as a prize.
