The last two winters we went up to Lake Placid for our winter getaway. It's always been a lot of fun, but the town itself left something to be desired (don't even get me started on the tobaggan and ice luge.) This year we decided to go somewhere closer, because if we were just going to sit around a fire and eat, drink and play board games, there was no need to drive > 5 hours for it.
I found this house in Hillsdale, NY about two hours north of the city with a 2 story barn that had a basketball court on the 2nd floor. Another good time was had by all and way too much food was eaten as usual:
